Dr. Elane Shirar is a Medical Doctor who specializes in Family Medicine/Geriatrics.
She was born and raised in rural Illinois and attended Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at Mercy Hospital in Denver Colorado.
In 1996, she started her own practice, Rocky Mountain Senior Care, and has owned and managed it continuously. After providing care in a family practice setting for 20 years, she saw a need to establish a house call program. As her patients aged, Dr. Shirar became aware of their increasing need for more specialized and personal care. Through recognizing the unique needs of her senior patients, she began visiting them at home. Dr. Shirar first began visiting clinic patients in their homes almost a decade ago. Since then, the practice has expanded at the request of other residents, families and caregivers. Rocky Mountain Senior Care now services numerous communities across the Denver Metropolitan Area, Ft. Collins, and Colorado Springs and has primary care clinics located in Northglenn, Broomfield and Golden.
When the M.E.S.A. Initiative’s grant funding expired, Dr. Shirar graciously agreed to accept the program under the administrative umbrella of Rocky Mountain Senior Care. She now serves, along with Dr. Murphy and Dr. Gahm, as a M.E.S.A. faculty member.
Dr. Shirar currently resides in Lafayette Colorado. She enjoys spending her personal time being very active with her sons and family by traveling, hiking, scuba diving and enjoying life.
